Mixing it up

Posted on | Wednesday, December 30, 2009 | 5 Comments

Holidays wore me out! I'm still recovering from all the traveling. Just to mix it up a bit, I created a festive shrug and vest. The shrug would be perfect for a bride or for a special occasion. The vest would be great over your favorite tank or shirt. I found a great metallic jacquard fabric a couple weeks ago and finally found a good use for it. Enjoy!

I made these in xs-s, but if you need a different size, get in touch. I still have enough fabric to make a few more. :)

Holidays 2009

Posted on | Monday, December 28, 2009 | 3 Comments

Holidays...
The time to indulge in too many sweets and yummy foods...
The time to give gifts...
The time to enjoy the company of family...
The time to embarrass the dog...

Matt got me a Fernanimal for Christmas (among other things).

Indy is smacking her lips at the thought of the Fernanimal...

So now I had to tease Indy...

"I promise not to tear it apart"

"But can I at least taste it?"

"Oh, mom!"

"I will get you another day."

Okay, probably only airing in Oregon, but I saw this lovely commerical promoting shopping in Downtown Portland while Matt and I were watching the Discovery Channel tonight, and they have a lovely and lengthy clip of the English Dept.... and you can see this blue flower hat I made for the lovely Elizabeth Dye last year.. and you can see a Clara cameo. :)
woot woot! Click HERE to watch (sorry, you can't click the photo to watch).

custom order sketch

custom order sketch, originally uploaded by mattandmyracallan.

I have tons of sketches of ideas lying around and I don't know why I don't send them to brides more often. I got a request today for a sketch from a lovely bride-to-be.... here's what I came up with. Did I ever mention I have the most lousy handwriting? My sister always had beautiful handwriting and mine looked like chicken scratch. I think it's the scientist in me... you know, like doctors' bad handwriting. *sigh* Or, maybe all my creative energy went to everything but handwriting. ;)

I found the yummiest, softest, prettiest silk fabric over the weekend and had to fashion it into something. Fruit Punch

This one is fun... you can braid or weave the metallic threads into your hair for a subtle and romantic accent.

I stop by Leanne's blog from time to time... always eager to see what lovely things she's created and what direction life is taking her after Project Runway. This custom wedding dress she created is to die for. I love the frothy layers!

Tarte Cosmetics sale!!!!

Posted on | Wednesday, December 9, 2009 | 2 Comments

I LOVE Tarte Cosmetics...LOVE THEM. I ordered a duo of cheek stains in the summer through Gilt Groupe and have been hooked ever since. I recently turned my sister onto their cheek stains too and we are eagerly awaiting another set of Tarte goodies from the last Gilt Groupe sale of Tarte products. PLUS, they have some vegan-friendly products AND they are "100% free of parabens, petro-chemicals, phthalates, sulfates and synthetic fragrances, just to name a few." Woohoo. And if that wasn't enough, head over now to their BIG sitewide sale. 40% everything (promo code FFDEC), free shipping with $40 purchase or more, and free gift with $25 purchase. If you ever considered trying Tarte Cosmetics, now would be a great time... or if you need to restock and build your collection. ;) I'm thinking of getting these items:

Just a big project I'm working on... well, more accurately, lots of mini projects that add up to one big holiday project. More on this later!

love this Kate Towers capelet

Posted on | Tuesday, December 8, 2009 | 3 Comments

Just had to gush about this:

I love the details on this dress.
I like to stalk Kate Towers Etsy shop and daydream about all her lovely creations. Speaking of stalking, what are your favorite fashion/design/art blogs? Please post a comment if you have a good one in mind. I have a collection of favorites that I love to frequent everyday for inspiration, but I don't have a ton of time to "discover" new ones on my own surfing the web... I'd love to hear about good ones from YOU (post a comment)! Thank you!

My Gilt Groupe outfit

Remember last week I said I was building a Gilt Groupe outfit? Well, my pants came today, so now it is complete!

Jacket is BB Dakota, pants are Kaylee Tankus and boots are Rosegold. Total price paid after Gilt Groupe discounts and credits: $25. Yay! (hat is Dayna Pinkham, not on Gilt) It's hard to tell, but the pants are amazing... they have interesting seams and zipper details. I rolled the cuffs, but they are nice and long.
