Stunning Oregon wedding :: via Style Me Pretty

Posted on | Tuesday, September 8, 2009 | 2 Comments

I fell in love with this lovely wedding that Abby at Style Me Pretty blogged about last week. The wedding was held in Salem, Oregon (yes, that is where I live!) and photographed by a favorite photographer of mine, Jessica Hill. The bride, Allie, is stunning and wearing a Twigs & Honey "Flourish" feather hair piece:

Congrats to the couple!
Thank you Abby, for the beautiful post.

Oregon State Fair 2009

Posted on | Monday, September 7, 2009 | 2 Comments

Fun!
Matt, my sis, her husband, and I all went to the Oregon State Fair Saturday evening and it was a blast. I loved the animals - way too cute. My sister and I rode that crazy "Big Sling" ride you see at the amusement parks and fairs similar to this:

I wish I had taken pictures but I didn't want to bring my camera because it was threatening rain all evening/night.
Oh... and don't forget the Mt. Angel Oktoberfest on September 17th-20th. Matt and I plan to eat a ton like last year. Hope to see you there!

Sorry for the light posting again this week. Last minute, I got a few big projects/shoots to work on with nearly impossible turnaround times... but I love a challenge. Although, my hands are really tired and my fingers are multi-colored from dyes and paints, I am really, really excited about some new pieces I've finished and some new ones I'll be scrambling to finish today. More on this in a few weeks, but here is a sneak peak:

Etsy Contest :: A Handmade Moment :: Help us spread the word!

Posted on | Monday, August 24, 2009 | 6 Comments

Matt & I have submitted a quirky little video to the Etsy "A Handmade Moment" Contest. Please view it! We put a lot of love and laughter into this piece for all to enjoy! Also, please spread the word by blogging about the video if you like it. :) Email to friends! Here is the link (through this link, you'll see the "embed" code if you'd like to support it by blogging about it): CLICK HERE (http://www.etsy.tv/video/A-Handmade-Moment-by-myrakim)

The contest ends August 31st in terms of submissions. The top 25 videos based on number of views will move onto judging by a selected panel (so the beginning round is a bit of a popularity thing, so help us out by spreading the word!). The theme is "A Handmade Moment". Let me know what you think. I'm sorry if it isn't Oscar-worthy. I just learned the software yesterday! The lovely music is being provided by Mood Area 52 (used with permission) who were wonderful at our wedding (thank you!!!).

Thank you so much for your help and enjoy the fruits of our labor (we had a blast making it for you!).

Seeing red...

Just thought I'd post a picture of a custom order I finished today for a lovely bride. I normally don't coordinate my outfit with the hair piece I'm photographing because I'm running around so much and that would require several seconds of precious time... but today, I just so happened to be wearing this red top from my grandma. Cute, ya?

Happy Weekend!

It has been a very long week and I'm ready for a little kick back time with the hubby. I still have a long list of work to do today, but I'm looking forward to this evening... we may go to miniature golf down the street from our house. :) Speaking of the hubby, our 2 year anniversary is coming up next month! I was just digging around older photos and I'm missing Maui (where we went on our honeymoon). Here's an oldie from the honeymoon:

Snorkeling trip to turtle bay.
We're *thinking* of making a second Maui trip in winter time, when the weather is crummy in Oregon. And speaking of upcoming cooler/colder days, I'm loving the new legwear at Anthropologie

Crinkle-Cut Leggings

Flowerfall Leggings
I love these... although, I'm not sure I'm ready for colder weather. I feel like I just got my summer wardrobe dialed in.

Aw... 90s music... random thoughts

Posted on | Monday, August 17, 2009 | 1 Comment

Last week, my hubby said he had heard a cool song on the radio by the Toadies (possom kingdom) and I only know one Toadies song and started singing it before he had time to load it on YouTube. Pleasantly surprised I knew the oldie, I explained to him how I know just about every song from the early 90s. I might not always know the title or artists name, but most likely if it was alternative or pop of any sort, I knew it. Matt missed out on most of the 80-90s music because he grew up in cities that didn't air that kind of music. I always love it when he gets all excited about these old songs because that's what I grew up with and it's fun to see how it is "new" for him like how it used to be new for me. Anyhow, whenever I think of Toadies, I also think of Toad the Wet Sprocket (because of the "toad" in the name). My favorite is "Fall Down", and a couple years ago when Matt and I were on the Perfect Playlist for 94.7, I chose that song, but apparently it was too old and the station didn't have it anymore. haha... makes me feel old. Well, I only just realized that Toad the Wet Sprocket also did "Walk on the Ocean". Wow... my mind is all over the place today. Enjoy!
