Anthropologie dresses + one great stylist
Posted on | Friday, June 12, 2009 | 5 Comments
When Matt took me to Anthropologie, I just died from all the beautiful dresses they have at the moment. Elianna, a lovely and talented stylist, also helped by picking out some beautiful pieces that I probably wouldn't have grabbed on my own, but became some of my favorite items in the store. I highly recommend seeing her if you are at Anthropologie in Portland. You might think you have your style down pat, but working with a personal shopper/stylist can really help refresh or polish up your look. Some items that I didn't jump at on the rack ended up being completely "me" when she brought them and I tried them on. They were "me" but revamped, and I liked it. For instance:

This Walk-A-Ways dress... probably a dress I wouldn't try on myself, but now I find myself wishing I'd snatched it up! I ended up getting a lovely top and belt, but am trying to narrow down which dress to purchase because I loved a few too many of them. I really wanted to include a picture of this polka dot dress Elianna found for me, that was just too much for words... but I couldn't find one (will post if I do!). There was this fluttery sleeved tunic/mini dress that she found, that looks "interesting" on the hanger, and which looked amazingly fresh and modern on. Aw! Need to find pictures!
Visit Elianna's website HERE, to view her amazing portfolio. Here are some of my favorites that she has styled:

polka dot skirt : 2008

feathered and burlap : 2009

shangri-la trolley : 2008
It's great to walk into Anthropologie and be able to work with such an accomplished stylist! She really has an eye. She's very accessible and down to earth, so be sure to utilize her talents when you're at Anthorologie in the Pearl. More to come on this amazing stylist in mid-summer... *wink wink*
I cannot wait!
Getaway
Matt surprised me with a mini vacay/getaway this week and it was just what we needed. We live in Salem, and just headed to downtown Portland, but it was just fantastic to get-away and recharge. We stayed at the Ace Hotel in the Superior Deluxe Corner room.

I especially loved how you could slide the bathroom walls/doors open into the main room! They are very pet friendly also, so we brought Indy, her toys, bed and all and I think she had a great time too.
In the evening, we watched Coraline at the Living Room Theaters across the street and walked to Powell's Bookstore afterwards for some hot chocolate. The next day, Matt treated me to a mini shopping spree at Anthropologie in the Pearl District (thank you Elianna for your styling help!).
I highly recommend the backyard getaway with your loved one! It is especially great on the wallet!
Thank you, honey! I LOVE you!

Matt and I worked on the yard again for most of the weekend, but very late Friday night, I made this cake topper and I'll list it in my Etsy shop later today:

A couple lovebirds, blush pink crystal and lots of vintage bits.
Fun friday project :: Dog collar
Posted on | Friday, June 5, 2009 | 8 Comments
I just listed a new piece in my Etsy shop. I had been meaning to create a dog collar for a while and finally sat myself down and finished it. Indy was so patient with me!

BIG *yawn*
"I'm so tired of sitting pretty."

View the collar HERE.
I think this dress is dreamy
I just saw this Alexander McQueen dress on Gilt Groupe today and I am drooling over it. I love the drape, the buttery color, the embroidery and the back keyhole:

I think it would be lovely if someone got married in this! I think Joanna would be gorgeous in this one (she would be lovely in anything), but not to make her dress decision any more difficult... Read on HERE.
Oh goodness, gracious woman!

Would Elizabeth please stop making such beautiful shrugs/boleros?! I have a serious obsession with them (perfect clothing article for my short waist) and Matt would concur. These new ones she has whipped up... to die for... my new favorites:

I don't know what to do with myself with this one. Just too perfect for words. Check them all out HERE.
I really like...
... one of yesterday's Etsy frontpages:

I love the soft pinks. I especially love the dkdesignshawaii flower arrangement top right... always a favorite!

Back from a long weekend
Posted on | Monday, June 1, 2009 | 4 Comments
My hubby, his brother and I all headed up north to Hoodsport, WA this weekend and I'm still tired. We camped on Lake Cushman and on Saturday and Sunday, Matt and his brother went on 4 scuba dives to receive their scuba certification. I was happy to have both feet on firm ground while scouring the shoreline for shells.

Gearing up...

Heading in...

Heading out...

Certified!

Indy swam a bit too.

I wasn't ready for this picture.

Celebratory ice cream finish.

Various treasures I picked up along the way.

HUGE shell.

Itty bitty crab.
Thank you, Janene + fiance, for keeping our plants so happy over the weekend!
Back to the work week!

3. NicoleB
I have others nearly finished and will get those posted Monday/Tuesday also. Thank you so much for your patience!!!!
Grateful :: Blossom for a bride
Matt, his brother, and I are leaving to head north to Hoodsport, WA over the weekend and we leave this evening. We were scrambling to find someone to water our garden after a ton of plants wilted in just 1 day with out water (we planted a ton over the holiday weekend). Anyhow, at the 11th hour last night, I asked a lovely bride I'm working with, Janene, if she could do a totally strange favor and water our garden since she and her fiance would be passing through our town while we were away. She agreed! Whew! Thank you, Janene!!! Matt and I are completely grateful - especially knowing all our hardwork won't die during the hot weather this weekend! Among some other compensation, I whipped this blossom up for her:

I like! I added it to my Etsy shop too.

If you are a bride/lady in the Salem/Portland, Oregon area that might be interested in trading for a custom hair piece in exchange for watering our garden or maybe caring for Indy this summer, shoot me an email: info@twigsandhoney.com
Matt and I will inevitably be away some weeks this summer and would love the help!
Hoorah! :: Lauren Moffatt dress is mine!
Remember that fabulous giveaway for the Lauren Moffatt dress I love? Well, I didn't win it, but I feel like a winner because I just received it yesterday after snatching it up for over 50% off from Gilt Groupe. It shipped quickly too and I cannot wait to wear it. Action pictures to come.

Thank you, Elizabeth Messina!
I know I keep gushing about Elizabeth Messina, but with good reason... as talented of a photographer this lady is, she is equally kind, professional and thoughtful... and stunning! I've been seeing more of the gorgeous photos from A Lovely Workshop appearing on blogs including Style Me Pretty (go HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE), and I just love to oogle every single one. A few minutes ago, I got a UPS package... a big package. I thought, "hmm... what did I purchase recently??" When I opened the box, I found within it, a beautiful and heavy wooden box with gorgeous embellishing. I would have been giddy with just the box, but the contents just made me squeal out loud. Countless high-quality prints all wrapped in bundles with raffia, a disc from A Lovely Workshop, and an oh-so-pretty card. Elizabeth... you ridiculously sweet lady, you!

Above and beyond... this lady exceeds expecations in every way and I am so grateful to have worked with her. Thank you, thank you Elizabeth Messina!! Be sure to visit her blog, kiss the groom (I know I do everyday!). I think I need to update my website soon... expect to see more of her stunning work soon!

Few new pieces in the Etsy shop
I never have time anymore to create pieces for myself and I always kick myself when I throw on an outfit and hit the town with Matt without a perfect little topper. Over the holiday weekend, Matt and I worked the earth, hard, and got much of the front sidewalk garden finished. It took three days over a couple weekends, but it is 100% better. I'll have to take pictures soon! Anyhow, I treated myself to a couple pieces. One of my favorite current designs is Mist. I made two for myself, finally... in a lovely blush pink/champagne, and one in bright turquoise. I love them so much I threw up a couple made to order listings in my Etsy shop for others to enjoy. Click HERE to view the pink one and HERE for the turqoise version.
