So much great stuff to blog about...

I may be a little spotty with the posts this week as I'll be super swamped filling orders, but I have so many great posts coming up. Here's a sneak peak from what Matt and I were up to yesterday...

Now it's back to work for me. More to come!

Something blue...

Posted on | Sunday, April 13, 2008 | 5 Comments

Whew! Tons of orders still to be made, but I did make some good progress today working nonstop! If you are waiting for your custom order, don't worry, I'm working through the night and all tomorrow evening, and the next and next, and so on... ;)

I just wanted to do an ultra quick "progress" post. It's so funny, but I've only made a limited number of hair pieces/accessories with any blue. All at once, I had all these orders with requests for blue! Is this a trend I am seeing? Well, it is a perfect "something blue" for all those brides-to-be. Take a look at just some of the pieces made today:

Many different styles and tastes going on here but all with some blue!

All these DewDrop veils are for one bridal party. Too cute! Here, they are mimicking synchronized swimming.

These are a few of my favorite things...

I have to share to everyone how happy I am to be working with such sweet and talented brides! Everyday, I get to work with some of the most delightful and kind hearted ladies from just about everywhere around the world. It just makes everyday bright and sunny! This is why I love making items through twigs & honey! I'm going to list just some of the wonderful creations or items sent to me by my brides. I would list more, but the sunset kind of ruined my nice "natural" lighting today. These ladies are all tapping my weaknesses with all this "cuteness" and ribbons, etc...

Craftpaca! I know I have gushed before, but here are some of the photos of the owls I purchased through Julie's Etsy shop.

Here is the hair piece I created for Julie's wedding.

I squealed when I received all of the pieces above! Thank you Tiffany. There are many brides who have requested the piece I made for Tiffany's wedding. I think it is one of the most requested ever!:

I'm actually going to be creating several more pieces for Tiffany's sisters and I couldn't be happier. She also sent me this darling chick:

Of which I paired with a chick I gave to Matt on Easter (they are watching the sunset together):

I also received the cutest invitation and save the date from Jeana - which I just love:

And I love her wedding colors:

Here is the hair piece I created for Jeana (1 of 20 pieces I'll be making for her!):

Meg, who is getting married in Alaska sent me a nice Alaska-esque greeting card and some real bark that I'm going to creatively add to her piece (work in progress!):

Do you like my blog banner and Etsy banner?? Those, along with some other artworks, were created by the wonderfully talented, Marisa (of flufflife.etsy.com). I'm so happy we met!! I feel so lucky to have been able to tap her amazing talent as a graphic designer (though she has just been offered a job as an in-house designer for Native Sun Organic Market!!) Congrats Marisa! I'm so happy for you!

And here is the hair piece I created for her.

And a very #1 favorite thing:

... my husband, who tolerates my "easily distracted by sparkly things and ribbon" personality.... as he forcibly allows a peck from the chick I got him because he really "loves" it. Right honey?!

Photo shoot :: Just some of the wonderful photos

Posted on | Thursday, April 10, 2008 | 6 Comments

I have been meaning to do a lovely post about the photo shoot we did with Paul Rich Studio and Elizabeth Dye, but I just keep running out of time! I've decided to post a nice assortment of a few of the gorgeous photos we shot a couple weeks ago - in freezing wintry weather! I loved the results! Thank you so much Paul Rich Studio, Elizabeth Dye and Holly Andres!! You are the best!

Fashions worn on the models are the creative designs of Elizabeth Dye or pieces found at The English Dept. Most of the twigs & honey hair pieces are also available through The English Dept.

Dust Furniture :: Wonderfully unexpected furniture!

Perhaps I'm a little slow at times, but I've just found Dust Furniture. They have an Etsy shop and I just fell in love with their whimsical, offbeat, yet completely practical furniture. If you know me, you will know I'm a huge fan of the whole Alice in Wonderland vibe/look and anything Tim Burton (I love the deconstructed and aged vintage attire in Sweeney Todd and Sleepy Hollow!). This furniture just reminds me of those stories and movies - so eclectic and different, yet you can't take your eyes off it. The furniture looks alive and slightly off kilter, and the seemingly haphazard shapes are just visually yummy. Once I pool some more funds together... I'm getting one of those cabinets!

This one I want in our future kitchen!

This one inspires me to read more so I can fill it up!

I couldn't narrow it down! Why not list them all?

Featured in the Etsy Storque :: Spotlight :: Handmade Weddings

Thank you Etsy!
I was so happy to see one of my headbands featured in The Storque - Spotlight - Handmade Weddings.
They actually featured, among many other great hair pieces, Bella, from the Firefly Enlightened Collection, which you can see before it was completed in a previous post of mine.
I completely encourage brides to go the "handmade" wedding route! It is so fun and rewarding. You don't have to go all out handmade, but a few special pieces here and there really make your wedding unique and memorable!

I am so pleased to announce that I have launched the twigs & honey necklace line, Encircling Gardens. These necklaces continue the twigs & honey aesthetic and style and are perfect for sprucing up a t-shirt or camisole. They are also lovely with dresses and would be fantastic with an elegant wedding dress. These necklaces are original twigs & honey designs and are handmade. Custom orders are welcome! I love them so much! Photos courtesy of the talented Paul Rich Studio.

And another darling twigs & honey post :: Craftpaca

Craftpaca!!! I love all of Julie's wonderful creations! So, naturally, I was completely honored that she would ask me to create her wedding hair piece. I had been checking her shop from time to time because I love everything, and was just so pleasantly surprised when she got in touch with me. She has a delightful blog and has created an adorable post that includes a wonderful handmade wedding items collection - including a twigs & honey piece! Thank you so much Julie!

Also, I snatched up a few of her little owls and they arrived today!!! I love them and will post a few photos soon! By the way, I'm catching up on all the great blog support for twigs & honey. Can you tell?

Such a sweet post on twigs & honey :: Thank you Beth

I love the title of this post, "I Love Myra". Too cute. The wonderfully sweet, Beth, had me create her oh, so charming bridal hair piece last month and I had been meaning to do a post about it!

Her piece actually was one of my favorite designs and even caught the eye of another designer, Elizabeth Dye. So, I've actually recreated it due to popular demand and it is now part of the English Dept. Collection. I'm so happy that I got to work with you, Beth!! You are so kind. Thank you for the support and good luck with all the wedding planning! Congratulations!

A Wedding Blog Post about twigs & honey :: William + Alicia :: the wedding blog

Alicia purchased a twigs & honey piece from me a couple months ago and a little while ago, I randomly stumbled upon her fantastic wedding blog. It makes me wish I had started a blog when Matt and I planned our wedding! Alicia and her soon to be husband, William, are going to be such a cute pair come their wedding day. I love all the inspirational photos throughout their blog.

Thank you Alicia!

The wonderfully creative, Mo, of Pink Argyle blog has done a lovely post on twigs & honey! I'm so happy I found her because she has such lovely posts. I'm sure I'll be checking it frequently for some great design finds and other things that make life so darn pretty. :) Mo, a photo researcher, has a great eye for those sometimes hard to find treasures. Check her out!!

Of course, I'm busy fulfilling the custom orders but I did start a new "venture" last week and thought I'd tease everyone just a little with a sneak peak...

Coming soon!

Birthday and a Boutique!

Posted on | Sunday, March 30, 2008 | 2 Comments

First off, can everyone wish my hubby, honey, lovebug a HAPPY BIRTHDAY?! It's his birthday today and how did we celebrate? Work! Yay! haha. Actually, Matt accompanied me to Portland yesterday to take care of some twigs & honey business and we did what any other normal adults without supervision/newlyweds would do. We woke up late, ate cold pizza for breakfast at 11:00 and finished with strawberry ice cream. You know, if you can, why not?

Among things to take care of in Portland yesterday, I am so happy to announce that the exclusive twigs & honey collection for the English Dept. is now available! If you are interested in these pieces, stop by The English Dept. in downtown Portland, OR. While you are there, coo at everything in the shop and say hi to the talented Elizabeth Dye. Yesterday, I dropped off 1 headband, 1 hairwrap/belt/armband, and 5 floral hair pieces. To all those nearby that frequent the shop, enjoy! If you'd like to know more, get in touch with the English Dept. or yours truly.

Today, I've been busy working on custom orders, and poor Matt was stuck playing Wii as I was busy sewing and cutting. I did manage to run to the store to buy a pre-made cake. I know, I know! I should have baked it! I normally do, but I was just too busy and would rather he have his cake and eat it than no cake, and no cake eating! mmmm.... and who wouldn't love Cookies and Cream Chocolate Cake?

Thank you Elizabeth (again!) and Happy Birthday Matt!

Photo shoot :: coming soon!

I just had to gush about some truly fantastic people we are so fortunate to know and work with!

We recently (yesterday) had a photo shoot for the twigs & honey pieces and came away with some amazing photos. I'll be posting about this more in the coming weeks, but wanted to thank Paul Rich Studio & Elizabeth Dye!! Paul, his lovely wife Holly, and the ridiculously charming and gorgeous Elizabeth Dye were such good sports and so utterly sweet throughout the day despite 30 degree weather, sleet and rain coming at us sideways, wind, curious onlookers, the occasional security guard, you name it! THANK YOU!

More on this later.....
Please visit Elizabeth Dye's site for some visually delicious work!
Also visit the talented Holly Andres to view some extraordinary artwork.
And of course, as I post everywhere and can't say enough good things about them, visit Paul Rich Studio for some absolutely breathtaking wedding photography.
