Posted on | Sunday, March 15, 2009 | 2 Comments

Lots of pretty little things in my Etsy shop today. A nearly identical headband to the one above was featured in all the Brides Local magazines this month. Yay!

Also, I'll be on vacation this coming week. I'll post more details soon!

Major Etsy shop update!
Posted on | Wednesday, February 25, 2009 | 4 Comments
I finally wrangled a bunch of pieces together and have completed an Etsy shop update. I listed 7 new pieces! Here are some of my favorites:

This piece is similar to the one worn by Holly. I received a ton of inquiries about it after her lovely wedding to Mario was posted on Snippet and Ink.

You must view more photos at the photographer's blog. Her dress was done by Elizabeth Dye!

I just listed a lovely necklace in my Etsy shop today. Fun to wear and eye catching, this necklace will surely turn heads! The more adventurous types can also wear it as a headband/wrap. Ultra pretty... I want to go run in a meadow while wearing it!

New piece to be listed today!

Just so I wouldn't get burnt out on making hair pieces, I made this little shrug/jacket. It is a lovely little piece that will complete any wedding outfit. It is made with silk dupioni, tulle, vintage veiling, alencon lace, beads, crystals, and other bits. In my Etsy shop later today. I'll also be listing a few hair pieces and I have a boutique update to announce in the morning. For now, it is late and my eyes are failing me. Off to bed (soon!).

New piece listed in the Etsy twigs & honey shop
Posted on | Monday, October 13, 2008 | 3 Comments

First off, thank you to everyone who left comments on the previous post about a new hair cut for myself. I'm excited about it and completely encouraged from all the positive feedback! I'm going to do it! I'll probably schedule an appointment in November/December when I have a little more time, but I'll keep everyone posted. :)
Also, I just listed a new piece in the twigs & honey Etsy shop. Be sure to check it out!
Improvements to the Process :: Order for the Orders
Posted on | Monday, June 9, 2008 | 6 Comments
In a never ending effort to improve “customer service” with twigs & honey (I put it in quotes because I feel that “customer service” sounds so straight business), I thought up a little post that I’ll do weekly, maybe twice a week, as I find time. It may totally go by the wayside as things get crazy busy over the next two months, but I thought it would be handy for all. So here’s the plan: I often get convos for updates on custom pieces, which is completely understandable. As my building schedule starts taking over more and more, it will start to take longer for me to respond to all my convos (about 50-60 a day, plus emails and website messages), and that just seems silly to me if you only want to get a quick update on the current production schedule. I’m going to start listing the Etsy usernames that are “on deck”, meaning in the works, and also those next up to the plate. I am hoping this will help to streamline the question/answer process and make it much quicker for anyone with an order with me to know if their piece is soon to be listed. If you are contacting me through email or the website, I won’t include you by your full name to maintain privacy (initials only if available). Also, if you don’t want your Etsy username to be included in this list, convo me to let me know. I am hoping this is useful! Just another note, but every once and a while, a piece needs revisions or “life” happens and things get a little crazier in terms of meeting wedding dates and appointments. I may shuffle super time sensitive orders from time to time by a few days just to ensure “on time” delivery, but will still on the whole, keep the production schedule in the order in which custom orders are received. Thank you for your patience and understanding!!
Here goes (the orders are not exact but just an approximate of what is in progress and the next group of orders to be in progress)!
Currently on deck:
1. m2020
2. mannad11
3. Emptopia10
4. Christina0423
5. muffinpuffin
6. Hayleyn
7. Erinalerman
8. Joscelin
9. lkawson
Next orders to be on deck:
1. novyD
2. digclay
3. chelseykh
4. kjb6v8
5. mediumstomasses
6. T.S.
7. Mayicshel2
8. hindsightbias
9. psychcuddles

New piece :: Portland Bride & Groom headband available!
Posted on | Thursday, June 5, 2008 | 2 Comments
In celebration of the Portland Bride & Groom issue, I made a new piece for my Etsy shop! Actually, I recreated the headband that was featured in the "Wish List", and also thought it might be a good idea to have it available in case anyone reading the magazine would be interested. That's using my head, yes? At about 5:30am last night was when I finished it, and it is ultra pretty, but of course I have a biased opinion. Check it out before it's gone!

PRESS :: Portland Bride & Groom
I am completely honored to say that twigs & honey is now featured in the current Summer/Fall issue of Portland Bride & Groom!
A few months ago, I was absolutely giddy and a bit in shock when Jill, the editor, got in touch to inquire about a custom piece for their "Wish List" spread. This was really early in my Etsy shop history, so I was honored and utterly flattered. Portland Bride & Groom has been a longtime favorite bridal/wedding publication of mine. They publish 2 issues a year and never waste one page. They always feature the most beautiful local artisans, fashions, and everything else having to do with weddings. The issues offer wonderful advice articles and the great part is that 95% of the magazine is useful information and not just advertisements (the remaining 5% are lovely advertisements too!). I even found my make up artist, Kymm Ernst, and hairstylist, Mark Putnam, through this magazine. I still hoard and refer back to the old issues and refuse to let them go.
Matt & I are also thrilled to say that our wedding was among the six "Real Weddings" in this issue! So exciting! I'm also so very excited for our wedding photograhpers, Paul Rich Studio, for getting such wonderful coverage and recognition they most definitely deserve!
A HUGE thank you to everyone at Portland Bride & Groom and to Jill especially! Thank you!
I'll be posting the spread once I get them scanned. :)

Yay, yay! There we are!

I finally squeezed in one new headband that is a non-reserve item! It's part of the Firefly Enlightened Collection and will be posted to the public in my Etsy shop tonight! This headband is very carefree and lovely and I think it would be perfect for an outdoor wedding or even a nice party. :D

Back in Oregon and moving time!
Posted on | Friday, April 25, 2008 | 1 Comment
Matt & I are back from Reno! We had a wonderful time and met some great people. The food was my favorite part. Yum! Now on with our move! Yes. Just as we are getting home, it's packing time. We'll be moving over the next few days and over the weekend, which I'm not looking forward to as I hate moving. I am excited about our new home, though, but it's the getting there that is a headache. While moving, I may take longer to get back in touch with people and I do apologize ahead of time. I have been swamped with inquiries and orders AND now the move, but after we physically move everything into the house, things should return to a certain level of normalcy again and turnaround times for custom orders should start to come down gradually. Keep checking back for the latest... I have tons to post about!Matt on the shuttle at PDX.
After the trip and on the way to our car, I told Matt that he was looking a bit out of focus. Har har! There is more punniness where this came from!
Travel update :: One missed flight and a down cell phone...
Posted on | Wednesday, April 23, 2008 | 4 Comments
We are in Reno at the moment after having missed our late flight Monday night. We did manage to get the next flight in the early morning, but that just made us a little more behind on everything. Plus! My cell phone is not getting reception... so strange.
Other than those hang ups, things are going great! I'm getting to all the convos and pieces and eating some great food in between. I'll be searching for the post office in a minute and shipping out some orders, and should be right back to work after that. Dinner last night: Lemon caper Alaskan Halibut, calamari, and French onion soup. Mmmmm!
Here are some travel photos:
At the airport and waiting for the rental car with all the essentials: make up bag, hat for the flattened hair after sleeping on it, a sleeve for my tea (from an Etsian!), and other tid bits.
The view from our room.
His and her workstations and the remnants of lunch.
Much of twigs & honey crammed into a suitcase. The rooster box contains none other than some of the most fabulous feathers. Who needs labels? I'm such a visual person! :)
Something blue...
Posted on | Sunday, April 13, 2008 | 5 Comments
Whew! Tons of orders still to be made, but I did make some good progress today working nonstop! If you are waiting for your custom order, don't worry, I'm working through the night and all tomorrow evening, and the next and next, and so on... ;)I just wanted to do an ultra quick "progress" post. It's so funny, but I've only made a limited number of hair pieces/accessories with any blue. All at once, I had all these orders with requests for blue! Is this a trend I am seeing? Well, it is a perfect "something blue" for all those brides-to-be. Take a look at just some of the pieces made today:
Many different styles and tastes going on here but all with some blue!
All these DewDrop veils are for one bridal party. Too cute! Here, they are mimicking synchronized swimming.
These are a few of my favorite things...

I have to share to everyone how happy I am to be working with such sweet and talented brides! Everyday, I get to work with some of the most delightful and kind hearted ladies from just about everywhere around the world. It just makes everyday bright and sunny! This is why I love making items through twigs & honey! I'm going to list just some of the wonderful creations or items sent to me by my brides. I would list more, but the sunset kind of ruined my nice "natural" lighting today. These ladies are all tapping my weaknesses with all this "cuteness" and ribbons, etc...Craftpaca! I know I have gushed before, but here are some of the photos of the owls I purchased through Julie's Etsy shop.
Here is the hair piece I created for Julie's wedding.
I squealed when I received all of the pieces above! Thank you Tiffany. There are many brides who have requested the piece I made for Tiffany's wedding. I think it is one of the most requested ever!:

I'm actually going to be creating several more pieces for Tiffany's sisters and I couldn't be happier. She also sent me this darling chick:
Of which I paired with a chick I gave to Matt on Easter (they are watching the sunset together):
I also received the cutest invitation and save the date from Jeana - which I just love:
And I love her wedding colors:
Here is the hair piece I created for Jeana (1 of 20 pieces I'll be making for her!):

Meg, who is getting married in Alaska sent me a nice Alaska-esque greeting card and some real bark that I'm going to creatively add to her piece (work in progress!):

Do you like my blog banner and Etsy banner?? Those, along with some other artworks, were created by the wonderfully talented, Marisa (of flufflife.etsy.com). I'm so happy we met!! I feel so lucky to have been able to tap her amazing talent as a graphic designer (though she has just been offered a job as an in-house designer for Native Sun Organic Market!!) Congrats Marisa! I'm so happy for you!

And here is the hair piece I created for her.
And a very #1 favorite thing:
... my husband, who tolerates my "easily distracted by sparkly things and ribbon" personality.... as he forcibly allows a peck from the chick I got him because he really "loves" it. Right honey?!
