Posted on | Tuesday, February 7, 2012 | 17 Comments
We're so excited to share with everyone that Twigs & Honey will be attending THE CREAM in LA on March 1st at the Book Bindery from 6-10pm. We had been meaning to attend previous ones and our schedules finally fell perfectly into place! The Cream is organized by Paige & Kelly of Bash, Please and is a not-your-typical wedding event that brings together a curated group of amazing wedding industry professionals/vendors for brides & grooms alike to mingle, dance, and have fun. Let me tell you that I took a look at the secret "crop" of attendees and I AM so thrilled to meet some of the amazing people that will be participating. :) :) So if you are in the LA area on March 1st, please plan to attend!
Twigs & Honey will have goodies for all, giveaways and more! We will have the new collection so it will also be a great chance to try on lots of the new styles. :)
Additionally, we'll be giving away 2 tickets so you and your groom or bride-to-be or bestfriend or mom or sister/brother or second cousin can go together (tickets normally $45 a pop). Come join us for a fantastic evening - hang out with the "cool" kids (coming from a self-proclaimed nerd) and say, "hi"! I'd love to meet you! If you want to secure some tickets, purchase them HERE.
To enter the giveaway, leave a comment - shoot the breeze, say "hello" or whatever - and we'll pick a winner at random. Giveaway starts NOW through Sunday, February 12th at midnight, standard Pacific time. :) :)

Etsy Featured Seller!
Posted on | Monday, July 4, 2011 | 13 Comments
I am so excited to announce that I'm an Etsy Featured Seller! Click HERE.
I started selling in my Etsy shop back in January of 2008 and was able to create a full fledged business shortly after. At that time, I was working a full-time job for the government and after 2-3 months of selling on Etsy, was able to put my notice in with my employer, left my job and started selling my handmade pieces full-time by May of 2008. I had often hoped (daydreamed?) to be a Featured Seller and was absolutely thrilled when I was contacted by the Etsy team.

Etsy has been an amazing venue for launching small handmade businesses. It's wonderful and inspiring to watch new businesses quickly take off and grow. I even encouraged my big sis to start an etsy shop of her own, and now that is basically what she's doing everyday. :)
After a short time, I launched my own off etsy online store and started getting a flood of wholesale requests. I curate my wholesalers to a manageable select list currently, until I have a few more workers, but it's been very exciting to build up a business from literally zero.

I currently have two contract workers (including my own mom!) and I think I've wrangled help from just about every relative I have at one point or another, but I have the most thanks going to my husband who has helped and supported me on my crazy venture these past few years.
I'm very excited for the future of Twigs & Honey as we've got lots in store for the future! I have so many secret projects that I promise to share once I can. Thank you so much to all the supporters and friends of Twigs & Honey AND thank you, Etsy!

Sad weather calls for some sun
Posted on | Monday, April 5, 2010 | 10 Comments
The weather is dumpy in Oregon today. I won't lie. I hate it right now and it's been like this for about 2 weeks. Matt and I planted grass a couple weekends ago when the weather was nice, and it still has not germinated yet! I think it is too cold!
I decided to make this sunshine headband in hopes that it would encourage the sun to come out. Please!

Alice inspired boutonniere
Posted on | Saturday, March 6, 2010 | 7 Comments
Last night, Matt and I went to the local Cinnebarre in Salem to watch the new Alice in Wonderland. I decided to whip up a whimsical, Alice inspired boutonniere/corsage to wear on my collar. I'm thinking of making some more... when I have time! Enjoy:

A little quirky with a touch of whimsy. I think it adds a lot to the jacket... a nice pop of color and unexpected charm.
New velvet crush
Posted on | Friday, February 26, 2010 | 2 Comments
I'm just a little hooked on and excited about velvet right now. Why? I don't know, but if pressed on the question, I guess it's because it has a vintage feel about it. I like the the weight and thickness as well. It creates lovely durable and substantial head pieces. Expect to see many more velvet pieces soon. Here's the latest:

Milky Way
Hand dyed and handmade silk velvet and silk organza flower.
Thank you so much, everyone, for your sweet comments on my previous post. I'm SO happy that you like the new work. That really keeps me going! I "treated" myself to a shower this morning... ha ha! I don't look like such a grease ball in these latest photos. ;)
What a week!
Posted on | Thursday, February 25, 2010 | 8 Comments
It has been an insanely busy week, so I do apologize for the light blog posts! I didn't get dressed up once this week... I have been in sweats every single day, so no outfit posts. So sorry! I am also a little behind on messages and orders and am staying up late tonight again to catch up. So hang tight!
What the heck have I been up to this week? WELL... I have been building a brand new website from scratch...
I had a couple medical things to attend to...
I had two photo shoots to create pieces for...
Fulfilling orders...
And every once and a while... I sleep a little. ;)
I jokingly wrote to my sister that I only showered twice this week. I know, I know! Ew~ So not lady like! But it's been that busy. I figure that saves me about 1 hour. So for all the lovely blog readers, here's a sneak peak at some new pieces I worked on this week for the shoots...

Hand dyed silk, handmade flowers, berry accents

For a country bride, hand dyed silks and linen flowers
And introducing my new Velvet line:

Luxurious hand dyed silk velvet... all handmade. Each petal is handwired so you can bend into place as you please. This particular piece also features vintage velvet paper wired leaves. More velvet pieces to come!

Bridal Star
2010 Collection trickling into the online shop!
Posted on | Thursday, February 4, 2010 | 1 Comment
I've finally had a bit of time to update my online store. I'm redesigning parts of it so from time to time, things might look a little off, but it's all for the sake of making it prettier, I promise.
I've added a new category for Twigs & Honey products: Twigs & Honey Luxe
These products will be for those who want to splurge on the highest quality of Twigs & Honey head pieces. These pieces are very special and unique and are made with extra care and have even more intricate detail work. I hope you enjoy!
I've also added a "rush processing" option for Luxe pieces, which will expand into the other categories with time. More pieces to fill my shop soon! Go HERE to see them all.

Four corners of the Twigs & Honey studio

It's a modest little space...
I guess I never really blogged my studio in its entirety, huh? It's about time. :) I am constantly reorganizing, rearranging, and de-cluttering it. It's a perpetual work in progress. Since it isn't huge, I really have to maximize the space. See more in my Flickr folder.

My raised table for building pieces. I like to stand more than sit. It's better for your b-u-t-t. Hey... I'm not getting any younger.

Little Ann Wood Handmade birds poking around like Where's Waldo.

Oh, glorious fabric... I like pinks and all shades of white. Can you tell?

Sometimes... I stray from whites and pinks...

Wedding photo... Flufflife art.... Ann Wood bird.

My hubby painted this vanity table the shabby chic pink for me. Craftpaca birds making an appearance.

I hope you had fun touring the Twigs & Honey space. See more HERE.
